NASHVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Senator Bill Powers (R-Clarksville) has been chosen to be part of the National Conference of State Legislature’s (NCSL) class of emerging leaders.
NCSL works to advance the effectiveness, independence and integrity of legislatures. The organization fosters interstate cooperation and facilitates the exchange of information among lawmakers in the U.S. and its territories.
Powers was recommended to the prestigious program by Lt. Governor Randy McNally. The program’s intensive training seminar will take place Thursday through Saturday in Atlanta, Georgia.
Lt. Gov. McNally said, “In his short time in the Senate, Senator Powers has proven himself an effective member committed to making an impact on behalf of his constituents. I know he will do well in this program and look forward to his future contributions to the Senate.”
“I am very humbled to receive the invitation to participate in NCSL’s Emerging Leaders Program,” said Senator Powers. “I look forward to learning from some of the best policy experts in the nation and bringing back solutions to help the people which I represent in District 22.”
Powers represents Stewart, Houston and Montgomery Counties. He was elected to the Senate District 22 seat in April, having served on the Clarksville City Council prior to his election.
