NASHVILLE, TN – State Sen. Bill Powers’ new committee assignments position him to have increasing influence in the Senate. Last week, Lt. Gov. Randy McNally announced Powers will now sit on the powerful Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee, which holds the purse strings for state government and is responsible for considering all measures related to taxes, revenue and spending.
“I am honored that I’ve been selected for the prestigious Finance Committee,” said Powers. “I will be a strong advocate for the communities I represent on this committee, and will ensure Tennessee remains one of the best financially managed states in the nation.”
In addition, Powers, who represents Clarksville, was appointed 1st vice chair of the Senate Education Committee and was reappointed as a member of the Senate Transportation and Safety Committee.
