FORT CAMPBELL, KY (CLARKSVILLENOW) – On Friday, 28, Second Lady Karen Pence, joined by the Secretary of Defense’s wife, Leah Esper, will visit U.S. Army Fort Campbell. During her visit, Mrs. Pence will deliver remarks to military spouses, meet with senior military leadership and visit the Intrepid Spirit Center at Fort Campbell’s art therapy program.

In the fall of 2018, Mrs. Pence launched an awareness campaign to promote and encourage military spouses. The Second Lady has since been traveling throughout the country and world, addressing military spouse employment challenges.

“Military spouses are strong, reliable and flexible. They are the kind of worker we want in the American workforce,” Said Mrs. Pence in a statement to her office’s website on October 22, 2019.

Pence has first hand experience with the challenges military spouses can face through her son, Mike, who is a pilot in the Marine Corps, and her daughter, Charlotte, whose fiance is a U.S. Naval officer.
