CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (ESPN CLARKSVILLE) Our ESPN Clarksville Culver’s Athletes of the Week are the Clarksville Screaming Eagles Youth Sports football team. The team is part of the Youth Spring Football League which includes Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Florida in the Southeast Conference. The teams compete and the Screaming Eagles won the state tournament 35-7 and then moved on to take the regional game 26-20.

The team won the 13 and under age group and then played a 14 and under team in the national championship in Florida May 5 but unfortunately lost that game. The Screaming Eagles actually have two teams that compete in football. The 13 and under age group has 20 players and the eight and under group has 14 players. The eight and under group of players won the state championship but lost their regional game.

Screaming Eagles Athletic Director, Scott Young talked about the team. “The Clarksville Screaming Eagles are an elite team, we want the best of the best. We want to compete but we do it with sportsmanship. We just want to give back to the great community of Clarksville and we want to put Clarksville on the map as a competitor,” Young said.

Young added the players are mainly from Clarksville-Montgomery County with a couple from Christian County and the majority of their coaches are retired military or are currently serving. Coaches for the football teams include Pooky Bogertey and Shaston Robinson.

Congratulations to the Clarksville Screaming Eagles Youth Sports football team, our ESPN Clarksville and Culver’s Athletes of the Week.
