CLARKSVILLE, TN − From all of us at St. Bethlehem, we would like to give a big thank you to Peter Lopez from Boy Scout Troop 562. For the past several weeks, Peter has worked on a Denver Drill training prop to help our members become more proficient in tasks we encounter while fighting fires.
The ultimate goal for a young man in Boy Scouts is to become an Eagle Scout. The journey begins at the rank of Scout and progresses through Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star Scout, and Life Scout, where a scout can start their Eagle project. One of the requirements for Eagle Scout is to complete a project that benefits a school, church, or the community. Peter chose a project benefits the community by providing a training aid to help firefighters advance in their training. This involved finding a project and beneficiary, raising funds or receiving donations, building the project, and then turning it over to the beneficiary.
His next step is to finish his Eagle Scout Project packet for final submission to the council. After submitting the packet, he needs to complete the remaining merit badges required for the Eagle Scout rank, serve as a Life Scout for at least six months, and pass his final Board of Review to officially become an Eagle Scout. We wish him well on his journey and are proud to have been a part of it.
