CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Parents and students got their first look Tuesday night at the proposed school rezoning to make room for the Kirkwood campus.
On Tuesday evening, RSP & Associates, the consulting agency chosen by CMCSS to advise on the rezoning agency, presented a draft proposal to the Clarksville-Montgomery County School Board.

The major changes will be to the Rossview and Northeast zones, while slighter changes were made to the Richview Middle/Clarksville High and West Creek zones.
Here’s a rundown of the zones and their changes:
Kirkwood: Includes everything east of Interstate 24 and north of Highway 76 that was originally in the Northeast and Rossview districts.
Kenwood: Includes two neighborhoods off Peachers Mill Road near Little West Fork Creek, Griffey Estates and Peachtree.
Northeast: Includes everything east of the Big West Fork Creek originally in the West Creek zone, while the east boundary ends at I-24.
Rossview: Extends boundary south of I-24 until Highway 41-A South to include areas in Sango and east of Sango Drive.
Clarksville/Richview: Extends boundary west along the railroad until Riverside Drive. This includes the area bounded by railroad, Cumberland River, Hickory Grove and Greenwood Avenue.
Montgomery Central: Boundary remains relatively unchanged.
Northwest/New Providence: Boundary remains relatively unchanged.
West Creek: Will include everything west of the Big West Fork Creek area originally east of the river now included in Northeast’s boundary.
After the first reading of the proposal on Tuesday, the district and RSP and Associates will hold three more sessions open to the public for feedback on the first proposal.
The first two informal public sessions will be held back to back on Jan. 17 and 18, which Robert Schwarz, CEO of RSP and Associates, told the board would be hosted virtually. Schwartz said the details on how to join those sessions are forthcoming.
CMCSS’s Zoning Team will then meet Jan. 25 to review information gathered from those two virtual sessions, after which a formal public feedback session will be hosted on Feb. 1 at Rossview High. A final proposal is set to be presented to the board at the formal meeting on Feb. 8 for approval.
In addition to the public hearings, the district has opened an online survey where families and community members can share feedback and questions about rezoning.
RSP & Associates’ have provided a link to their full presentation made at Tuesday’s meeting.
Clarification: The residential area rezoned from West Creek to Kenwood off of Peachers Mill Road is considered one subdivision by the school system. The area includes two neighborhoods: Griffey Estates and Peachtree.
Correction: An earlier version of this article misspelled the last name of Robert Schwarz. The article has been updated.
