CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – The first week of school can be hectic for students and teachers, but some parents are saying it might be even more hectic to find a seat on some of the school buses in Montgomery County.

“I think there were some concerns with overcrowding. Some buses were not on schedule on the first day of school,” said Clarksville-Montgomery County School System spokeswoman Elise Shelton.

According to Shelton, the school district didn’t know there were going to be so many students riding the buses.

“What I would love for the public to understand and be patient with us because we don’t always know how many students are going to show up to ride the bus that day,” she explained. “Lots of kids move into our area we have a huge growth spurt in Montgomery County, and there are many more students who showed up on the first day than we anticipated.”

Shelton told News 2 the school district doesn’t have a system that notifies schools about how many kids will be riding the bus on the first day of school.
