CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – An 8-year-old Clarksville-Montgomery student was treated for minor injuries when a school bus ran over her foot Thursday.

Police said the bus driver, Elizabeth Self, stopped to let children off the bus around 4 p.m. on Monroe St. and Swift Dr. When the child bent down to tie her shoe, the bus driver did not see the child and resumed her route. As she turned right onto Swift Dr. the right rear tire of the school bus left the roadway and rolled over the child’s left foot.

The child was treated for minor injuries at Gateway Medical Center.

Self told officials she was distracted when a car ran the stop sign arm on the bus and almost hit another pedestrian who was there to pick up her child.
