CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Montgomery County primary is coming up March 5, with early voting starting on Feb. 14. In addition to the presidential primary, there are several local races on the ballot, including for School Board seats and Assessor of Property. The winners will be on the county general election ballot in August.
To help voters with their decisions, Clarksville Now is holding forums for each contested race, giving candidates a chance to weigh in on the issues.
School Board, District 2
Here is the forum for School Board, District 2, Republican primary, featuring candidates David Johnson and Kacie Bryant.
School Board, District 6
Here is the forum for School Board, District 6, Republican primary, featuring candidates Maribeth Knight, Chris Lanier and Charlie Patterson.
Other School Board candidates
The other School Board races on the ballot are unopposed on March 5. They include:
- Dist. 2, Democratic Primary: Ritchie Patton, unopposed to run in August.
- Dist. 4, Republican Primary: Kent Griffy, incumbent, unopposed in primary and in August.
- Dist. 6, Democratic Primary: Bernard Carter Jr., unopposed to run in August.
About the election
The Presidential Preference Primary and County Primary will include these local races and the presidential primary. Election day will be March 5, with early voting Feb. 14-27.
Winners of the local party primaries will face one another in the State Primary and County General Election on Aug. 1. The presidential election, with state and City of Clarksville elections, will be Nov. 5.
