CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksville Montgomery County School Board approved a rezoning recommendation on January 10, 2017.
The rezoning will take effect at the beginning of the 2017-2018 school year in August. A letter will be mailed to the homes of students who are affected by the rezoning and will include exceptions that families can take advantage of if they choose.
The policy includes exceptions for students to stay at the current school they are zoned for, but transportation will not be provided by the school system.
“We offered a lot of exceptions understanding that people purchase a home because they want to go to that school, and we don’t like to come along and change that for them,” Operations Officer Jim Sumrell said.
The affected zones include areas of West Creek Middle and High School as well as areas of Northeast Middle and High School that will be rezoned for Kenwood. Sumrell explained this rezoning is to help relieve the other schools and utilize Kenwood’s facilities more efficiently.
