CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The freezing temperatures and bitter wind chills plaguing Tennessee will soon come to an end.

However, temperatures on Friday and Saturday will remain well below the freezing point. Friday’s high is 26 with a low of 6 and Saturday’s high is 27 with a low of 20.

Scattered flurries are possible after midnight and before noon Friday.

Wind chill values will remain at or below zero through mid-morning Friday and Clarksville-Montgomery County Schools will open one hour late.

The area will start to thaw out by Sunday with a high of 42 degrees and a low above freezing at 35 degrees. Sunday also brings light rain showers and a chance of sleet throughout the day.

Local warming shelters will remain open through the extreme cold weather period.
