Lakelyn Reed, 2, didn’t quite understand the concept of asking Santa for toys when she was placed in the jolly man’s lap last year.
Instead, her fear took voice and she tried to take flight the second she sat down.

“We took the photo last Christmas. She was so excited to see Santa, and then when it was our turn in line, she completely freaked out and started crying,” her mom, Brittany Proctor, said. “She threw a fit the whole time she sat on Santa’s lap.”
That photo won Lakelyn and her family $500 in the Scared of Santa Photo Contest sponsored by Travis Electrical Service.
Approximately 170 entries flooded in for the month-long contest. Lakelyn’s photo was randomly selected as the winner.
“We are so excited and so thankful to win,” Proctor said. “We finished Christmas shopping, but I have a feeling Santa may bring a swing set.”
They are glad to report Lakelyn conquered her fear of Santa this year.
“We took her again this year, and she did a lot better,” Proctor said. “She sat there and didn’t cry. I think she gets the concept a lot more this year. She’s told me and her dad every single day she wants Santa to bring her a bike and two toys.”
