Sarah Hicks, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024, at the age of 87.
Sarah was born in Hampton Station, TN, on July 7, 1936, to the late Thomas Neal Cobb and Norine K. Cobb. Along with her parents, Sarah is preceded in death by her husband, James M. Hicks; beloved Uncles, Jim and Bryan Kennedy; beloved Aunt, Mable K. Redding, beloved Uncle, Finis Redding; and spiritual mentor throughout her life, Lewis Carney.
Sarah is survived by her daughter, Sarah Elizabeth (Beth) Hicks, of Clarksville, TN, and her sister-in-law, Margaret Ashford, of Jacksonville, TX.
Sarah was a teacher for Clarksville Montgomery County Schools for 28 years, as well as working at Ft. Campbell’s Adult Education program and volunteering at Marshall and Jackson Elementary. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a lead for Explores Bible Study, a women’s fellowship bible study. Sarah enjoyed antiquing, reading, making flower arrangements and she was an animal lover.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 2, 2024, from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and also on Wednesday until the service hour at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Grace Chapel Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be John Allensworth, Jim Willard, David Scott, Brian Harrell, and Roy Harrell. Honorary Pallbearer, Willie Fields.
The family would like to recognize the caregivers, Diane Stapp, Felicia Blaine, Patti Miller, Nurse Debbie, Nurse Brittany, Rhonda Fields, and the staff at Tennova Hospital Step-Down Unit.
