Sarah Elizabeth (Skelton) Watkins, age 77, of Clarksville, TN passed away at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN after a long battle with heart disease. Her final days were spent surrounded by family that she had touched in a special way throughout her memorable life.
Sarah was born in Chicago, IL on December 22, 1944. She met and married her husband Amos Watkins in St. Joseph, Michigan atop the bluff overlooking Lake Michigan. Since then, they have enjoyed an incredible 58 years of marriage and a journey that has carried them through Michigan, Alabama, Ohio, Kentucky, and finally their home for the past 38 years in Clarksville, TN. There are few things she enjoyed as much as a good and hot chicken wing, and spending time with her family! She especially enjoyed doing this relaxing once a year in her favorite spot in Hilton Head, SC.
Mrs. Watkins is survived by her husband, Amos Watkins; her son, Richard Watkins (Gidget) of Spring Hill, TN; her daughter, Heather Laird (Brian) of Springfield, TN; eight grandchildren, Cameron, Carson, Cole, Connor, Dylan, Kendall, Jack, Ryder; and her brothers, Ray Skelton of LaVerne, CA, and Jim Skelton of Walnut Creek, CA. She is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ella Joy Laird.
At her request, no service will be held. Sarah requested for her ashes to be scattered on Lake Michigan with a private family service. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association can be made in lieu of flowers.
