CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – If you have not gotten a chance to see the huge sand sculpture in the Governor’s Square Mall between the main entrance and Dillard’s, you have 11 more weeks to check it out.

“When it comes to sand-sculpting, if you come and watch you’re going to learn a lot,” Matt Deibert, one of the sand sculptors, told Clarksville Now, “It’s pretty simple: just sand, water and compress it.”

Deibert said his passion has been expanding beyond the beach for over 20 years now, and he’s been in several national competitions and championships.

This project was taken on by five sand sculptors and required over 25 tons of sand. The sculptors worked 8-10 hour days on the week of April 27 to complete this sculpture honoring veterans and active military in Clarksville.

You can come by the Governor’s Square Mall through the end of July to marvel and take pictures in front of the sand sculpture.
