Sammie Ray Wortham, age 78 of Southside, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at AHC of Clarksville.
He was born March 5, 1943, in Clarksville, the son of the late Clyde Wortham and Thelma Joiner Wortham. Sammie was the owner and operator of the Brownfield Country Store for over 20 years.
He is survived by his daughter, Lisa Appleton; brother, Louis Wortham; and sisters, Nancy Langston and Sue Threatt. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Amanda Huneycutt (Eric) and Jacob Appleton (Taylor), and great-grandchildren, Broc Huneycutt, Abby Huneycutt and Blake Appleton.
In addition to his parents, Sammie is preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Ann Bryant Wortham, and sisters, Beth Mathis and Ouida Buchanan.
A memorial service will be conducted on Monday, August 9 at 1 p.m. at Gateway Funeral Home with Michael Proctor officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services.
