CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – The Salvation Army will once again offer assistance for the less fortunate during Christmas this year.

Low income families who are in need of food for Christmas or toys for children aged newborn to 12 years may apply, along with seniors in need of food for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Applicants must live in Montgomery, Stewart or Houston County.

To apply, visit the Salvation Army located at 210 Kraft Street from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. between October 27 and 31.

No applications will be taken after the dates listed.

Applicants should bring photo ID for the head of household as well as ID for every member of the household. This can be a birth certificate, green card, or another ID with the child’s name and birth-date. This is required for all children 12 and under. Proof of current street address in the form of a utility bill, rental agreement, etc. and proof of all household income are needed as well. Proof of income can be food stamp and AFDC amount verification and other government assistance. A recent print out showing the amount is required within six months of registration. Those who are employed will also need to bring a copy of their paystubs. All employment proof must be on company letterhead.

Each household must make their application in person. If there is more than one family in a house, they must apply together.

Applicants must not apply with other agencies, churches, groups, or schools for Christmas assistance.
