CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) While many people are planning summer vacation, the Salvation Army continues its work to care for homeless families and individuals in Clarksville.
“Just last week we were able to find housing for a homeless family of three plus five individuals, and this week we expect to house three veterans,” Captain Mark Love said. “The work of our experienced social workers in developing case plans, encouraging clients and leveraging community resources provides meaningful results for homeless people in Clarksville.”
The Salvation Army is also excited to announce the expansion of its men’s shelter from 24 to 30 beds. “These additional beds provide flexibility to care for specific needs and give us more capacity for the winter months,” Captain Love said.
Captain Sally Love, Mark’s wife, said volunteers are currently needed to help serve meals, organize donations, and help with general maintenance of the facility.
“Volunteering your time can make a huge difference in the life of a family or individual! And donations are especially needed at this time of year. Food, laundry supplies and of course monetary donations go toward providing all the necessities that help our clients take steps toward independence,” she said.
Those interested in volunteering can call 931-221-9746.
The Salvation Army Facebook page is a great place to find specific needs. As Clarksville grows, the need continues to grow and the Salvation Army is seeking help especially during the summer months. Captains Mark and Sally Love would like to express their gratitude to the Clarksville community for supporting this important assistance to our neighbors in need, and they thank you for helping them help others.
