CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Salvation Army of Clarksville held Friends of the Salvation Army: An Evening of Appreciation & Community on April 18. The event was in recognition of all supporters and volunteers of the organization.

Close to 100 people attended the dinner and program at the House of God Church on Memorial Drive. It was also a chance for the community to meet the new Clarksville Advisory Board for the Salvation Army.

“We knew that we just needed to say thank you to our volunteers and supporters who helped us make it through our winter weather,” Corps Officer Lt. Patrick Lewandowski said. “We would not have made it through the winter weather housing those in need without the volunteers and supporters that stood alongside us.”

Lewandowski said he had been working with their advisory board consulting firm, the Zumaya Group, since last July.

“We haven’t had an advisory board since 2016 when our former advisory board was dissolved, so we haven’t had an official advisory board for about 10 years. It’s exciting to have 10 new board members,” he said.

The new advisory board members are Pastor Katherine Walker-Chairman, Pastor Frank Washington Sr.-Vice-Chair, Kathy Knobel-Treasurer, Pastor Franklin Johnson-Community Relations and Development, Julia Rhoads, the Rev. Bill Graham, Leslie Mannen, Robert Davis, Claudia Erb and Gary Kenney.
