CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Soldiers and Families Embraced, better known as SAFE, was the recipient of a $10,000 donation from McReynolds-Nave & Larson Funeral Home on Friday, August 16.

McReynolds-Nave & Larson Owner Ed Larson and Partner Tom Creech made the presentation at the SAFE office. “On behalf of Ed Larson and myself we want to present this check to the SAFE organization here in Montgomery County for the good work that you do in support of the community,” said Creech.

The funeral home was selected in July to receive an award from a funeral supply company and use it to support a non-profit organization in the community. Creech emphasized that there are a lot of great non-profits in Clarksville-Montgomery County and talked about choosing SAFE.

“With what we do with relationships to putting families first, focusing on soldiers and the military that we have in this community. The SAFE organization seemed like the best fit for this donation through our funeral home.”

SAFE Executive Director Christina Watson called the donation a huge blessing for the organization. “We rely heavily on grants and of course private donations from different community members and businesses, so this allows us to provide our services.”

According to SAFE, the $10,000 would allow for about 150 hours of counseling. Most of their clients use about 10 to 12 sessions, meaning that at least 15 service members, family members, that receive a complete treatment plan thanks to the donation.

The SAFE organization offers free confidential counseling and mental health services to those who serve in the military, those who have served as well as their families.

Safe is not affiliated with the Department of Defense or the Veterans Administration and operates strictly through grants, public and private donations and community support.
