Ruth Julia Morton Basham, 79, of Clarksville, TN, died on Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center.
She was born on November 23, 1934 in Gasport, NY to the late Walter Valentine Morton and Winifed Julia Brown Morton. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Alan Dustin Basham and four brothers, James Morton, Joseph Morton, John Morton, and David Morton.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Pastor Betty Meriwether officiating. Burial will be in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-West in Hopkinsville, KY. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 10 a.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.
Ruth was a member of St. Bethlehem United Methodist Church. She was a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Red Hats, and the Country Women’s Club of Clarksville.
She is survived by her son, Craig Basham (Lisa Veron) of Palmyra, TN; daughter, Melanie Howell of Clarksville, TN; sister, Faith Chezum of Somis, CA; and three grandchildren, Jason Howell, Alissa Basham, and Dustin Basham.
Pallbearers will be Jason Howell, Kenneth Wall, Charlie Clawson, Steven Vialuch, Mohamed Salem, and Carl Ledbetter.
