CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The request to pass the turkey on Thanksgiving has a whole new meaning when 284 runners take off in the Annual Pass the Turkey 5K hosted by the Clarksville Running Club.
The event is held each Thanksgiving morning in the parking lot of Governors Square Mall to support Manna Café Ministries and Loaves and Fishes in Clarksville.
One brave runner suits up in the a costume and takes off a few seconds before the other runners and of course everyone tries to pass the turkey. More than $2,000 was raised at the event which brought out runners of all ages along with many family dogs.
Both Manna Cafe and Loaves & Fishes received just over $1,000 from the Clarksville Running Club and other donors, along with donations of food and clothing from runners.
The donated funds will help both organizations continue their work to feed the hungry in Clarksville-Montgomery County.
