CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) — Ruger is honoring Jeff Quinn, a local gun critic who passed away last year, with a limited edition, memorial revolver, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to Bikers Who Care.

Jeffrey W. Quinn was the founder and editor of the gun review website Gunblast.com. Ann Smith, editor-in-chief for NRA Women, praised his work for always “offering his unbiased truth about whatever firearm was in his sights.”

Jeffrey W. Quinn, founder and editor of Gunblast.com, will be memorialized by Ruger with the Jeff Quinn Memorial GP100

Quinn was a local business owner and longtime member of Bikers Who Care. He died July 27, 2020, at 61 years old.

Mark Gurney, developer of product management at Ruger, spoke with Jeff Quinn’s brother and business partner, Boge Quinn, about memorializing him.

“It means a lot to all of us. It just shows the level of respect and honor that Jeff had in the industry,” Boge Quinn said. “It’s an incredible honor and it really blows me away.”

Boge Quinn worked with Ruger and Lipseys Wholesale Firearms to develop the memorial firearm.

“Jeff was a dear friend to both me and to Ruger. He use to say, ‘I like talking to you guys at Ruger, because you’re always so happy.’ Maybe, but the reason is because we were happy to be working with him too,” Gurney said. “Why wouldn’t we do this?… He was certainly fitting of the best foot we can put forward.”

The Jeff Quinn Memorial GP100

The GP100 Memorial Revolver from Ruger is a limited edition, .44 special revolver with a 4-inch barrel and five-shot, unfluted cylinder. The revolver sports a classic look with a dark blue finish and hardwood grip. Engraved on the grip is Jeff Quinn’s signature and likeness, sporting his iconic double-braided beard.

Only 500 of this signature firearm will be made.

Supporting Bikers Who Care

When Ruger approached Boge Quinn with the GP100, they also asked what Jeff’s favorite charity was. Boge quickly identified the Bikers Who Care (BWC) motorcycle club.

Jeff Quinn was an active member of BWC for almost 30 years, participating in toy runs, the annual haunted house and Camp Rainbow.

“It meant a lot to him with them funding Camp Rainbow. Every year, they would ride out to Camp Rainbow one day and play with the kids and give them rides on their motorcycles,” said Boge Quinn. “It means a lot to those guys, and it meant a lot to Jeff.”

BWC spokesman Steve Eckert said BWC was grateful for the donation, but even more so for the memorial to Jeff Quinn’s legacy.

“Jeff was a quite man of action who we could count on to be there when it mattered most. He was a straight shooter, both literally and figuratively,” Eckert said. “We are grateful that Lipseys and Ruger have chosen to memorialize our friend and brother.”
