Ruby Jewell Powell, 95, of Smyrna, TN, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Christian Care Center of Rutherford County.

Jewell was born on August 16, 1920, in Clarksville, TN to the late Isaac Asbury Baggett and Addie Lee Neblett Baggett. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles Thomas Powell; brother, Rodney Van Baggett; and two sisters, Gladys Conatser and Clara Estelle Baggett.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Rev. Francis De Hennessy and Rev. Steve Baggett officiating. Burial will be at Dickson County Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016, from 12:00 p.m. until the hour of service at the funeral home.

Jewell worked at the former Gresham Shirt Factory in the 1950s and 1960s. In recent years, she was a member of La Vergne First United Methodist Church. She loved crocheting, gardening, and her Sunday School Class.

Jewell is survived by her son, Tommy (Roxanne) Powell of Clarksville, TN; daughter, Wanda (Harold) Scott of Smyrna, TN; sister, Hazel Pepper of Clarksville, TN; five grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Grandsons and Great-Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
