CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The three Rotary Clubs in Clarksville – Clarksville Rotary, Sunset Rotary and Sunrise Rotary –recently banded together to spread some holiday cheer.
The clubs sponsored a new Nature Adventure Trail Play Pod with a $23,000 gift to the Wade Bourne Nature Center Foundation. The funds were raised in part from the Clarksville Rotary Clubs’ Christmas Tree Extravaganza & Auction, the first holiday fundraiser of its kind for the three clubs.
“We are blessed to have such an awesome and active group of Rotarians in our community. I don’t believe there are any Rotary groups anywhere that are as good as the ones we have right here in Clarksville-Montgomery County,” said Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett.
The new Nature Adventure Trail at Rotary Park will feature seven different play pods for children to enjoy learning and play in a safe space outdoors. The funds donated from the three Rotary clubs will sponsor a play pod all about pollinators like bees.
The three Rotary clubs coordinated the donation of over 20 elaborately decorated Christmas trees and 15 wreaths from community volunteers and local businesses which were displayed at Miss Lucille’s Marketplace ad auctioned virtually.
The virtual extravaganza and auction event also featured voting for Clarksville’s Favorite Christmas Tree, which went to Berkshire Hathaway PenFed Realty’s “There’s Gnome Place Like Clarksville for Christmas” tree.
The honor of Clarksville’s favorite Christmas Wreath was awarded to the “Beautiful Hearth Wreath” donated by Past Rotary District 6760 Governor Bob Huffman which was designed by Drury Designs.
The top-earning item at the event was the “Diamond Pendant Wreath” Donated by Elliott Herzlich of Elliott’s Jewelers.
