CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Northeast Eagles traveled to Rossview High School for the first round of the District 13-4A tournament on Thursday.  The game was tight early, but Rossview pulled away with an eight-run eighth inning. The Hawks won 15-5, sending Northeast to the losers’ bracket.

Isiah Robinson started the game on the mound for the Eagles, and was able to get out of early jams, allowing only three runs in as many innings. Cam Skaggs hit a 3 RBI triple to tie the game at 5 in the top of the fifth, but that’s where the offense ended for Northeast. Five players for Rossview had three-plus hits on the night, highlighted by Julian Richards’ four hits, including a home run. A massive eight-run fifth inning broke the game open.

“It was just a dogfight,” said Rossview head coach Parker Holman. “They had a big inning, flipped the momentum on us, but fortunately for us, we were able to respond. You’ve got to be tough in the postseason, when things don’t go your way, you’re going to find out who you’re going to be.”

Despite the Eagles’ loss, they will match up with Kirkwood tomorrow afternoon in an elimination game. Even with a loss, Northeast head coach Charles Ratliff was proud of his squad, and is optimistic for another chance to advance.

“We fought really well tonight,” said Northeast head coach Charles Ratliff. “We had a few things not go our way, which took the air out of us. You know Rossview is going to hit the ball, that is a dang good team. We have another chance, and we need to keep fighting.”
