CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Kirkwood Cobras traveled to Rossview High School for the District 13-4A tournament semifinals on Tuesday. A shutout from the Rossview defense and goalie Pierce Grandy propelled the Hawks to a 3-0 win, sending them to the district title game against Clarksville on Thursday.
The Hawks started fast, with a goal in the third minute from Emiliano Fuimalino off the assist from Kaden Armitage to take the momentum early on their home field. After that, the first half became a possession battle, and neither team could find the back of the net for the ensuing 40 minutes. After the halftime break, the Hawks got another early half goal, with Ben Fitting striking gold this time, off the assist from Fuimalino in the 42nd minute, and all of a sudden, Rossview was in control.

“We controlled the game, that’s what we wanted to do,” said Rossview head coach Seth Ramsey. “We were sound defensively tonight, and our offense has turned on in these last few games; it’s been a work in progress, but that work is finally starting to show off.”

The Hawks didn’t stop there, though, scoring 22 minutes later courtesy of a goal from Joziah Jardiolin, off the assist of his brother Jay Jardiolin. On the defensive side, Rossview goalie Pierce Grandy and the Hawks’ backline locked down the net, and the Cobras were shut out, ending their season in the district semifinals for the third straight season.
“I’m disappointed for our guys,” said Cobra’s head coach, Kelley Guth. “Rossview came out and played well and gave us everything we could handle. We had some opportunities, but we weren’t able to capitalize. They had a great season; it’s hard to end it on this note, but that’s the way the scoreboard fell today.”
As for Rossview, they’ve got a date with rival Clarksville High, in a rematch of their first district match of the season, where Clarksville won 2-1. The Hawks now travel to Hilda J. Richardson Field with revenge on their minds.
“This is where we want to be, it’s what we work for all year,” said Ramsey. “We’re gonna enjoy this for a few hours, but the job’s not finished, and we’re going to prepare for what we have next.”
