CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Rossview Middle School is closed this week due to an escalation in the number of positive COVID-19 cases, and contract tracing has resulted in many students and faculty needing to quarantine.
All traditional students will learn virtually this week, and return to in-person classes next Monday if positive case and quarantine numbers are low enough to do so safely.
Despite being on Fall Break last week, school officials state that the number of quarantines has continued to rise. The notification from RoMS principal Julie Hallums went out last Thursday afternoon, according to CMCSS officials.
Here is the notification that was sent to all RoMS families via phone, email, and text message:
Good afternoon, Rossview Middle Parents and Guardians,
This is principal Julie Hallums. I hope you are enjoying a safe and healthy Fall Break. Although the school building has been closed, my administration, district staff and the Montgomery County Health Department have been continuing to field calls regarding COVID-19 positive cases and have been conducting contact tracing. Over the past few days, the number of Rossview Middle students, faculty, and staff who are quarantined has continued to increase.
Due to the number of faculty and staff on COVID-19 related leave, Rossview Middle School traditional students will be learning remotely next week, October 19-23. If the conditions improve, we look forward to returning to in-person learning for traditional students on Monday, October 26. With remote learning, students will not report to the school building as they will access learning via the laptops provided by the district. Teachers will post learning information to their classroom PLP by Sunday evening. If you have questions regarding subject specific information, please email your child’s teacher directly. If your child forgot his or her laptop or charger, please communicate directly with your child’s homeroom teacher, who will help in locating and providing the devices or charger to the main office for pick up Monday. During this time, all after school programs, sports, practices, tryouts and clubs will be cancelled and/or postponed for a later date. We will provide that information as soon as it becomes available.
Families who need access to no-cost meals during this remote learning time may pick up meals at any CMCSS elementary school. Meals for the week are available on Mondays from 1 – 2 p.m. Weekend meals are available Fridays from 1 – 2 p.m.
I appreciate your patience and understanding. We must all work together to reduce interruptions to instruction by following guidelines and best practices for staying healthy during the pandemic. Have a great rest of your Fall Break.
