CLARKSVILLE, Tenn (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Rossview Middle School Symphonic Band has enjoyed a successful year. Having received superior ratings from four judges at the Middle TN Band and Orchestra Festival, the band is now qualified to receive the TN Bandmasters Sweepstakes Award.

In order to receive the award, a band must receive superior ratings at a concert festival, and half of the band members must participate in the Middle TN Solo and Ensemble Festival. 118 Rossview students performed at this event, with 95 receiving superior ratings according to Vanessa Cobb, director of instrumental music at Rossview Middle School.

“I’m just really excited for them, and I am really proud of them for the hard work and dedication they’ve put in, said Cobb “It takes a lot of grit and determination to get to the level they have gotten to. They’re making the program look great.”

Both the Rossview Middle School Symphonic Band and Rossview High School Wind Ensemble have been invited to participate in this year’s TN State Concert Festival, which will be held in April at Austin Peay State University. The Festival features only 32 bands each year.

This is the third year in a row that the Middle School Band has been invited to participate in the Festival. Last year, they were one of only four Middle Schools Bands to perform.

The TN State Concert festival is free and open to the public. Rossview hopes to have dates and times for the band’s performance soon.
