CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Jonathan Allen, assistant principal at Rossview Middle School, has recently been named the Clarksville Now Educator of the Month presented by Action Air.
Allen serves as both the Assistant Principal and the Athletic Director for Rossview Middle School. He previously taught Spanish and coached football at Clarksville High and Fort Campbell High Schools.
“I was really surprised,” said Allen when he was awarded earlier this month. “I can’t do my job without all the fantastic teachers we have, I appreciate everything they do.”
Allen’s passion for teaching and administration began at an early age with great role models. His own Spanish teacher inspired him as a student to consider a career in education. As an administrator he had many leaders encourage and support him along the way.
However, his focus has always remained on being a positive impact to the student.
“If you feel you can make a difference in kids’ lives, that’s what they need,” said Allen, when asked what advice he’d give to future teachers. “If you feel like you’re going to make an impact then you’re the type of person we need in our kids lives.”
All nominees were submitted by others in the community. “He’s early to school every day,” said the nomination “And normally the last to leave. [He’s] talking with students and parents making sure both understand what is needed of them to succeed.”
