CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High senior forward Jacob Edwards has been named Clarksville Now Player of the Week after nearly averaging a double-double through two games last week.
To kick off the 2023-24 high school basketball season, the Rossview High boys’ basketball team hosted Franklin High on Nov. 13, and then traveled to Ensworth High on Nov. 18.
In their first game of the season, the Hawks and Admirals fought for the upper hand. At the end of regulation, the game was still tied, so it was sent to overtime. Unfortunately, Franklin High was able to pull away and came out on top 69-75.
Edwards finished the game with the second most points on the team (21), and he led the Hawks in rebounds with 14.
Rossview was able to bounce back during the second game of the season after falling just short during the previous game. The Hawks defeated Ensworth High 70-59 after four players finished in double figures.
Edwards posted 16 points of his own, and the senior forward added to his stat line by compiling 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.
When the week concluded, Edwards ended up averaging 18.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. He also showcased his efficiency from the field where he shot 88% from the free throw line and 50% from three-point range.
