CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – (CLARKSVILLENOW) After seven seasons with the Rossview Hawks, Ron Lambert has decided to step down as the head football coach.
The Hawks, who have made the playoffs the last three out of four years including last season, are poised to have a great 2017 season as they return 18 starters.
“I just felt like it was time. It’s been 39 years running for me, 24 as a coach and 15 as a player, and the mental grind just caught up with me,” Lambert said. “Knowing the program is in a great place gives me peace in my decision and allows me to move forward without reservation.”
The coaches, players and parents at Rossview made this job the best I’ve ever had. I have no regrets with how we did things. I set out to build this program 7 years ago and I think we were very successful in doing so. I will certainly miss the players the most, but with 18 starters returning, there’s a lot to look forward to,” he said.
When asked about any future coaching endeavors, Lambert added, “Yes, I do plan to coach again, but certainly no timetable at the moment.”
Lambert is the second head coach in the area to step down in the last two months. Fort Campbell head coach Josh McKillip resigned in December. Rossview opens their 2017 season on August 18th at cross town rival Clarksville High school.
