CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rossview High Hawks traveled to exit one for a district matchup with the Northeast Eagles on Tuesday, Sept. 17. While the game was close through one half of play, the Hawks offense exploded in the second half to earn a 7-0 victory over the Eagles.

Both teams started off strong on defense, but Rossview was able to get on the board in the 20th minute thanks to a strike by Eva Greenwald. However, neither team was able to score again in the first 40 minutes following Greenwald’s goal.

Northeast High head coach Thomas Moseley liked the way his team started the game and wants to see their first half performance carry over into other contests.

“We need to play like we did in the first (half), cause we’re a good squad when we do that,” said Moseley. “We can’t give them anything in the second half, we have to finish games, not just start them.”

After the halftime break, the Hawks went on to score six more goals, including Greenwald finding the back of the net three additional times. In total, the senior scored four goals. With the victory, Rossview improves to 4-4-1 on the season, and 2-1 in district play.

Rossview head coach Connie Castleman wants to improve the slow start but saw a lot of tenacity from her squad in a big district win.

“We had an awkward long break thanks to rain last week, so it’s hard to kind’ve get back,” said Castleman. “Once we got started though, we got back into that rhythm. We’ve gotten better every game, and we’re moving as a unit. We want to change the narrative on some opponents in the postseason, when we get there.”

Meanwhile, Northeast High has compiled a record of 2-7-1 with a district record of 1-1. The Eagles will look to bounce back against the Dickson County Cougars on Thursday, Sept. 19.
