CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – In a world of ‘just good enough’ it’s refreshing to have people who refuse to accept a status quo. Whether through kindness, determination, or hard work, it’s impossible to ignore their positivity. Clarksville Now and Action Air proudly award our September Teacher of the Month, Ms. Nora Ioane, for her outstanding efforts at Rossview High School.
In the world of overworked educators, a role model like Ms. Ioane is refreshing. She has taught at Rossview High for five years, teaching at Clarksville High before that. On her website Ioane shared the encouraging phrase, “Be who you needed when you were younger.” Words it appears she puts into practice each day.
The simple support she has offered her students has carried well beyond the classroom. It was a former student who submitted Ioane for the Teacher of the Month. “Best English teacher I’ve ever had during my sophomore year of high school!!”
A graduate of Rossview High herself, Ioane continues to shine, encouraging others and raising the bar for her English students. “I chose to teach high school English because I love the opportunities literature provides us to communicate with one another,” Ioane said on her website. “My goal is to help support this upcoming generation by teaching them how and when to communicate their thoughts and feelings appropriately and successfully.”
When the principal at Rossview first heard about the nomination and award, she was ecstatic. “I am so, so excited about this. She is an incredible teacher to her students,” said Dr. Schanda Banister-Doughty.
Do you have an educator who is making a difference in your life or the life of your child? Nominate them below and they could have the chance to win $100 courtesy of Action Air.
