CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High and the Northeast Eagles played Tuesday to determine the boys basketball district champion for the 2022-23 season. The Hawks’ energy and depth proved too much for the Eagles, and Rossview won 73-60.
The Hawks came out with an infectious energy to begin the game, which led them to lead 22-10 after one quarter. After being down 12, Northeast displayed their perseverance and clawed their way back into the game during the second quarter. Before the halftime buzzer sounded, the Eagles cut Rossview’s lead to single digits.
Northeast kept up with Rossview until the last quarter of action, but the Hawks were determined to find separation and were able to do so.
Rossview junior forward Jacob Edwards took over in the final quarter. Edwards scored 12 out of his 19 points on the night in the fourth. He finished with a team-high in points.
Rossview’s Cam Ward was named Most Valuable Player for his district. In addition, Rossview Head Coach Johnny Jackson was named Coach of the Year.
The Hawks and Eagles are back in action this Saturday when their regional tournament kicks off.
