Clarksville, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Dickson County Cougars met up with the Rossview High Hawks at Clarksville High School for the region 7- 4A semifinals late Friday night. The game was decided after Rossview outscored Dickson County 14-1 in the last five innings to earn a 15-3 win. With the victory, Rossview High advances to the regional championship game against Clarksville High.
Hawks second baseman Johnny Cabaleiro got the scoring started with a RBI single in the top of the first inning, but Dickson County quickly responded with two runs of their own.
However, the Hawks offense then took over the game, and it started with first baseman Houston Hebert, who blasted a no-doubt homerun into left field, which would be his first of two on the night. Hebert finished the game with 5 RBIs. From then on, the floodgates opened, and Rossview never scored less than two in any other inning.
“We did a good job of getting into deep counts and seeing pitches well,” said Rossview head coach Parker Holman. “Their pitcher is phenomenal, fortunately, we were able to get some big swings and have success to get him off the mound.”
Rossview relief pitchers Caden Slaughter, Cabaleiro and Aiden Cano allowed zero runs in each of their one inning outings. Now, after their 15-3 win, the Hawks will face Clarksville High for the fourth time this season. This time around, with a region championship on the night, as well as a home sub-state playoff series.
“Any time you can win in May, it’s great, regardless of who or where you’re playing,” Holman said. “We just have to get one more tomorrow, be tough, and the journey continues.”
