CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Rossview High Hawks and Henry County Patriots met up at Clarksville High School for an elimination game on Saturday night. While the Patriots got up big early, after scoring 22 unanswered runs, the Hawks clinched the victory to keep their season alive with a 22-10 win as they now advance to a sub-state series against Collierville next week.

Henry County came out swinging last night, scoring eight runs in the first three innings to jump out to a rather large advantage. Henry County left-handed pitcher Ethan Flood was also dealing on the mound, striking out 7 batters in only 3.2 innings pitched. However, the Hawks’ offense rallied and scored eight runs in the fourth and fifth innings combined, highlighted by a three-run triple from pitcher Cole Jobe to tie the ball game.

Then, in the top of the sixth inning, Rossview scored 14 runs to break the game wide open, led by second baseman Johnny Cabaleiro’s five RBIs. Following the Hawks offensive explosion, right-handed pitcher Trenten Evick came in and closed the door shut on any kind of attempted comeback. With the victory, the Hawks keep their season alive in dramatic fashion with a 22-10 win over the Patriots.

When asked about the game’s outcome, Rossview High head coach Parker Holman said he’s thankful his team gets to play baseball for at least one more week.

“They fought, trusted each other, and even though it wasn’t pretty, it doesn’t have to be pretty to win,” Holman told Clarksville Now. “It feels great to have more time with this great group of guys. They (Collierville) have a great program, and we’re going to go line them up and play. From this point on, it’s just about finding ways to play more baseball.”
