“We came out slow offensively,” said Rossview head coach Clay Head. “We told them at halftime we need to be more aggressive and get up and down the floor, and that’s what we ended up doing. Give credit to Northwest, they always play hard, and we knew it was going to be a tough test.”
The start of the second half was more of the same, until the Hawks offense came alive, powered by 18 points from Ellie Hankemeier, who led all scorers. Rossview outscored Northwest 35-12 in the second half.

“I was really proud, they played our kind of game for a half,” said Northwest head coach Ben Wallace. “We executed things as best as we could; we just didn’t shoot it well. Our quality of shots weren’t bad, they just didn’t fall. I was hoping that we could get further, but it is what is. This team is resilient, they have had moments where we could’ve quit, but we never did.”
Rossview advances to the Region 7-4A semifinals, and will match up with Henry County on Monday night. For Head and his squad, it’s all about continuing to stay alive, one game at a time.
“Tonight we knew we didn’t have another one if we lost, so we had to execute well enough to earn another practice and another game,” said Head. “Every game is a new game, and just go out and have fun. That’s what it all about, enjoying being out there with your teammates, and that’s the message we had for the girls.”
