CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – Rossview High School senior forward Ellie Hankemeier has earned Clarksville Now Player of the Week following her performance in the Hawks’ opening week of games where she averaged 24 points and 23.5 rebounds over a two-game stretch.

Hankemeier was an absolute force down low in the Hawks’ first two contests, scoring 29 points and grabbing 22 rebounds in the season-opening win against Kenwood, and followed that up two days later with a 19-point, 25-rebound performance against Goodpasture.

There aren’t many words you can use to describe her performance in the opening week except pure dominance in the paint.

“Winning this award is very special to me,” Hankemeier told Clarksville Now. “It means a lot, because I’ve worked really hard the past 4 years, and I’m really thankful for my teammates, coaches, and parents who have helped and supported me.”

Coaches corner

“Ellie has been so important to this program, not only because of her production on the court, but also because of how she has led our team in the transition to a new coaching staff and to a more inexperienced team than she has had the past three years,” said Rossview head coach Drew Smith.

“She has supported our younger players, and hopefully that will lead to more success as our season continues. She has also trusted the coaches and allowed us to make small tweaks that have helped elevate her game,” he said.
