CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The West Creek High boys’ soccer team traveled to Rossview High school for a cross-town matchup with the Hawks. While both teams had their chances, the defense held firm on both sides, and the game ended in a 0-0 draw.

Rossview held possession most of the first half but was not able to capitalize on their opportunities in part to some clutch saves from Coyotes senior goalie Alex Cruz-Lopez. The Coyotes went on the counterattack quickly when they gained possession but also couldn’t find the back of the net either. The teams headed into the halftime break knotted at nil-nil.

“It was a great effort by the entire team,” said West Creek head coach Craig Nakutis. “Alex Cruz has been everything for us, if any college coaches are reading this, they need to be calling this kid. This team has grown together into a strong brotherhood, and they showed that tonight.”

The second half was more of the same, with each team having their chances but not converting. Rossview senior goalie Jacque Collins completed a shutout of his own, and the two teams went scoreless through 80 minutes of action.

“Hats off to West Creek, they defended us really well,” said Rossview head coach Seth Ramsey. “We kind of slept-walked through the first half; we woke up but couldn’t poke it in. We need to find the final pass inside the box. We haven’t been able to find it in the past few games. We just have to get back to work at it and figure it out.”
