Ronald Gene Morton, age 83, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at his residence. Ron was born on June 6, 1941, in Friendsville, TN to the late Cara Franklin Morton and Louise Davis Morton.

Ronald is also preceded by his brother, William R. Morton.

He was a 1959 graduate of Farragut High School, in Knoxville, TN, where he excelled at all sports. After graduation, he played basketball and baseball in Junior College for two years. He then earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he played baseball for two years. After college, Ron became a teacher and coach at Karns High School, in Knoxville. He later earned a master’s degree and entered the wholesale HVAC distribution business working for companies such as York, Lennox, General Electric and Trane.

In 1988, he purchased an existing HVAC contracting and service business in Clarksville, Tn and operated it with his family for 30 years until his retirement. Ron was a long-time member of Clarksville First Baptist Church and attended services until his illness no longer allowed. He was an avid golfer and member of the Clarksville Country Club where he enjoyed playing and spending time with his friends. He also attended many Tennessee Vols and Titans games, with his family and friends, and was a season ticket holder for many years. Ron is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Cook Morton; son, Neal Franklin Morton, sister, Kay (David) Solomon; grandchildren, Jacob Reid Morton, Joshua Ryan Morton and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home with Roger Freeman officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be David Shaffer, Brad Greathouse, Scott Sander, Jason Kolb, Jacob Morton and Joshua Morton. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be L W Harris, Edmund Terrell, Landon Brake, Larry Dean and Freddy Wyatt.

Visitation will be on Thursday, October 3, 2024, from 3:00-6:00 PM and also on Friday from 10:00 AM until the time of the service at Neal Tarpley Parchman Funeral Home.
