PatsyJr-2CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – The Clarksvillain Roller Girls have made a name for themselves, but on Saturday, May 7, they will share the spotlight with their children in Clarksville’s first-ever junior roller derby game.

The Montgomery County Minions Junior Roller Derby was founded in 2014, and though the children, ages 7 to 17, have participated in scrimmages, they are excited to finally hit the track in their home town. Most of the children have mothers that play roller derby for the ClarksVillain Roller Girls or the Red River Sirens, so it is fitting that this game will take place the day before Mother’s Day.

One particularly proud Derby Mama is DeathRow Jo of the ClarksVillain Roller Girls. She will play in the ClarksVillain Roller Girls game, which begins at 6 p.m., along with her daughter K-Tality. Then at 7 p.m., she will go from player to cheerleader as she watches her younger daughters, Jewels of Death (age 15) and Spine Ripper Rissy (age 11) make their derby debuts.

“With teenagers it’s hard to have something to talk about. Derby gives us that something to talk about. Our mother-daughter bonds have grown closer as we share the excitement of a sport we all love,” Jo said.

The game, which will be made possible thanks to United Chiropractic, Infinity E-Cigs, Woody’s Pizza, Reda Home Builders, Gateway Foot and Ankle, and O’Connor’s Irish Pub, will take place at the Clarksville Speedway and Fairgrounds, 1600 Needmore Rd, in Clarksville, TN.
