Roland Edward Hampton, 91, of Clarksville, TN, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at Gateway Medical Center.

Roland was born on January 19, 1923 in Clarksville, TN to the late Mode Lee Hampton and Ethel Ann Kirk Hampton. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Katie Hampton; brother, Mode Lee Hampton, Jr.; and granddaughter, Kitty Quirantes.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014 at Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Chapel with Father Frank Ruff and Deacon Huberto Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 2, 2014 from with a vigil to follow and from 10 a.m. until the hour of service Monday at the funeral home.

Roland was a WWII Veteran, having served in the China-Burma-India Theater. He retired after 42 years as a civil service firefighter. He was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Mary and St. James Catholic Church in Guthrie, KY and Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Clarksville, TN. He was an avid sportsman and winning competitor in numerous senior games.

Roland is survived by three sons, David Hampton of Clarksville, TN, Ronnie (Suzie) Hampton of Seffner, FL, and Andy (Scott Larson) Hampton of Gainesville, GA; five daughters, Marsha (Ralph) Hardy, Rita Hampton, Ruthann (Rob) Long, Kala Hampton of Clarksville, TN, and Mary Kay (Steve) Munson of Greeneville, TN; sister, Mary Jayne Kraeske of Clarksville, TN; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; fifteen great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Collin Cox, Jason Hampton, Steve Hardy, Tim Hardy, Ralph Hardy, Steve Henry, Steve Munson, and Rob Long. Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
