Robert Johnson, Jr., age 80, of Clarksville, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015, at Gateway Medical Center.
Robert was born March 19, 1935, in Bolton, MS, to the late Robert Johnson, Sr. and Elese Marzell Johnson. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Melissa Ann Johnson; and one brother, Johnny Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served three years in the US Air Force, during which time he was involved in the Korean Conflict. He was a small business owner in Portland, OR for 25 years, where his restaurant was known for the “best soul food in Portland.” Robert’s passions were hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 19, at 1:00 PM, at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Dr. William Luffman officiating. Burial will take place at a later date, in San Bruno, CA. Visitation will be held Saturday, September 19, from 11:00 AM until the hour of service, at the funeral home.
Robert is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ida Johnson; two sons, Robert Anthony Johnson and Iran Eric (Dr. Julie Brush) Johnson, both of Portland, OR; one daughter, TayRanette (Richard Neal Williams) Johnson-Williams of Clarksville; one brother, J.C. Johnson of Clinton, MS; sister, Maxine (Charles) Box of Vallejo, CA; eight grandchildren, Robert Howard Johnson, Jolinda Ola Johnson, Anthony Kyser, Taray Johnson, Tiere Nathaniel Williams, Tarryn Navance Williams, Ri Tara Natrice Williams, and Keegan Partiax; and seven great-grandchildren.
