CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Clarksville Police had an interesting run in with a suspect Thursday evening.
A little after midnight, a shirtless man walked into a service station near the 600 block of Riverside Drive.
The suspect brought a Mountain Dew to the register. As the clerk began to ring up the purchase, the man walked behind the counter with his hand wrapped in a t-shirt. He demanded the register be open and pushed the clerk.
The suspect took an undisclosed amount of money from the register fleeing on foot going north on Riverside Drive. Within 10 minutes, patrol officers located a man meeting the description near the river behind a business on Riverside Dr.
The man was stripped down to his underwear. The suspect yelled that he had been robbed and all his clothes were taken. The story fell apart quickly when officers spoke to people in the area. They all confirmed they had been approached by the man. He attempted to offer them money in exchange for different clothes.
After being interviewed by Detective Matos, Quentin Edwards was booked into the Montgomery County Jail and charged with Robbery. His bond was set at $50,000.
