CLARKSVILLE, TN − In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the RJ Corman Bridge in downtown Clarksville will be illuminated in green from May 4 through May 10. The green lighting serves as a visible reminder of the importance of mental health and the community’s shared commitment to breaking the stigma surrounding mental illness.

This initiative is a collaboration between Montgomery County Government and Centerstone, a nonprofit health system specializing in mental health and substance use disorder services. With a longstanding presence in Clarksville and surrounding communities, Centerstone provides outpatient counseling, crisis services, school-based therapy, substance use treatment, and other behavioral health supports to individuals and families across the region.

“Mental health affects us all, and we want everyone in Montgomery County to know they are not alone,” said Michelle Hueffmeier, director of communications and marketing for Montgomery County Government. “By lighting the RJ Corman Bridge green and partnering with Centerstone, we’re sending a strong message of support, hope, and unity.”

“We are proud to partner with Montgomery County in shining a light, literally and figuratively, on mental health,” said Ben Middleton, regional CEO at Centerstone. “Lighting the RJ Corman Bridge green is more than a gesture. It’s a symbol of compassion, awareness, and our shared responsibility to support one another’s mental well-being.”

Mental Health Awareness Month, observed nationally each May, promotes education, support, and advocacy for individuals and families impacted by mental illness. Local officials and advocates encourage residents to wear green, share mental health resources, and check in on friends and loved ones throughout the month of May.
