CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The City of Clarksville’s Riverview Cemetery held its annual Wreaths Across America ceremony Saturday, placing a wreath on each of the more than 340 graves of fallen service members in the cemetery.

Riverview is Clarksville’s oldest cemetery, and it was the third year the cemetery has participated in Wreaths Across America. During the ceremony, wreaths were also placed for each of the branches of the service, in memory of those who have served and are serving.

Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said he was inspired by the generosity of local citizens, especially when it comes to honoring veterans, and thanked everyone that sponsored a wreath this year.

Angie Sykes, manager of Riverview Cemetery said they have a soldier from every American war at the cemetery “and four of which are Revolutionary War veterans, so we are proud to participate.”
