CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (CLARKSVILLENOW) – Festival officials have confirmed that the Rivers and Spires Festival will be shut down and no further activities will continue Saturday.
The announcement came at 1 p.m.
Officials said the decision was made for the safety of patrons and volunteers due to incoming storms.

The decision to scrap the festival early drew criticism on social media, including the ClarksvilleNow and Rivers and Spires Facebook pages because the heavy rain ended by afternoon and festival organizers said earlier that the event would go on rain or shine.
Organizers of the Just Du It Duathlon at Beachaven Vineyards & Winery say packets will not be distributed at Rivers and Spires as planned but can be picked up tomorrow morning before the event at Beachaven.
