Rita Jeneen Maltie, age 52, of Clarksville, TN passed away on July 6, 2019 at Skyline Medical Center. She was born on April 27, 1967 in Lincoln County, TN to the late Nurline Moore McKinney and Freddie McKinney, who survives. She graduated from Central High School in 1985. She was a member of the women’s basketball team in high school and in college at Motlow State Community College and Austin Peay State University. She was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Kappa Rho Chapter, and was a faithful servant of the Thomas Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church for many years. She worked as an elementary school teacher until her chronic health condition prevented her from continuing her career.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Nurline Moore McKinney; brother, Stanley McKinney; nephew, Vincent McKinney; mother-in-law, Alma Maltie; and brother-in-law, Johnny Maltie.
She leaves to cherish her memories: devoted husband, Ashton III; loving daughter, Danielle; loving son, Ashton IV; father, Freddie McKinney; sisters, Deborah McKinney – Fayetteville, TN; Sherry (Perry) Watson – Nashville, TN; brother, Darryl (Miessa) McKinney – Northeast, MD; sisters- in-law, Rebecca Maltie and Eliza Hood – Colfax, LA; Patricia Maltie – Brookhaven, MS; brothers-in-law, Joseph Maltie – Los Angeles, CA; James (Janette) Maltie – Clarksville, TN; a host of nieces, great-nieces, nephews, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, sorority sisters, and beloved cousins – Sandra (James) Cannon.
Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home with Elder Wayne Hayes officiating. Burial will follow in Sulphur Springs Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Gallant-Riverview Funeral Home. Repass to follow burial at South Central Human Resource Agency.
