CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – After clinching their place in the first middle school football championship in 43 years, Richview and Northeast Middle went head-to-head at Fortera Stadium to decide the champions of the 2023-24 season.

Defense was the name of the game throughout the contest, but when it was all said and done, Richview scored a touchdown with 17 seconds on the clock to narrowly win the game 9-6.

“It’s been unbelievable to be the first one to lead the group, and to see the response and turnout for the players,” said Richview head coach Josh Richards. “We have over 70 players on the team, and every one of them stuck with it. That tells me as a program the kids learned to love football and it’s been a great experience. I’ve coached in college, high school and junior high before too, but this win is as great as any.”

Northeast head coach Bernard Gaston said the opportunity and return of middle school football meant a lot to him and his players.
